Job Description

Job Responsibility:

To support the reinsurance for EB portfolio and establish an overall reinsurance strategy to achieve the ambition in EB market. Given the continued expansion of the Inward RI business (a recent extension to another Banca channel), this new HC will act as subject matter expert to deliver more efficient handling of EB RI matters and drive RI-related decisions. The detailed job scopes are as follows:

 

  • Lead the reinsurance function at Employee Benefits Department and formulate reinsurance strategies for Group Life and Group Medical. Review guidelines and best practice in accordance with AXA Group standards & policies and Hong Kong regulations. Support the achievement of EB strategy for products and projects involving reinsurance, such as, pooling (MAXIS & IGP), fronting IPMI business (AGH, NOW Health, GMC, A+), outward & inward reinsurance, and more.

 

  • Provide regular reinsurance financials reporting and analysis to CEBWO, EB Pricing & Product Director and senior management on the effectiveness of new and existing reinsurance arrangements, produce reinsurance reports for Executive Committee, Risk Management, internal/external audits, and local regulators.

 

  • For both outward and inward reinsurance, ensure timeliness and accuracy of account settlement and liaise with Finance team for remittance/fund collection.

 

  • Maintaining proper audit trail of control evidence and performing data quality remediation actions when necessary.

 

  • For outward reinsurance, validate reinsurance data information and prepare RI bordereaux to support regular financial reporting for reinsurance partners. For inward reinsurance, liaise with reinsurance partners for timely data collection and validate incoming reinsurance data by investigate and explain trends, errors or inconsistencies that have been identified.

 

  • Maintain good relationship with reinsurance partners and evaluate the reinsurance needs and support the selection of reinsurance deals, including actuarial pricing and financial impact study on profitability, underlying earnings, and/or other metrics for risk vs return trade-off.

 

  • Maintain the EB reinsurance database (SCALA) and support regular internal controls with Risk Management. Facilitate treaty placement & ensure timely signing of reinsurance & facultative treaties with proper documentation.

 

Requirement:

  • Close to qualified/fellowship of a globally recognized actuarial association
  • At least five years’ experience in the Insurance industry, pricing or reinsurance experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with good time management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and deal with multiple stakeholders
  • Good command of business English, both in written and spoken form
